Green team ilminster

Ilminsters green team was holding a show and we went we arrived at the hall When I sat down nanny koura was telling her granddaughter a story about the humans who keep on littering and putting plastic in her tummy "the humans would always come to the skate park and litter, the rubbish that they threw on the ground would end up in the ocean and our sea creatures.  " Please nanny koura could you say another story please just 1 more" fine she said.

"This is the time your nanny saved the world from aliens, then came the weirdest sound I ever heard it was the alien mother ship they landed close to the skate park three aliens came walking around the corner the alien king wanted to know if this planet was clean enough for them to dump all of their rubbish here.  And it was, so the robot that they threw out was still working, so the skaters grabbed the robot and they were real mad and they told the robot to call the aliens and the robot did what he was told.

The aliens were mad but they came instead of the skaters talking the aliens just dumped more rubbish.  So the skaters went to nanny koura and nanny koura told the robot to call the aliens so he did the aliens came and the aliens thought that nanny koura was there long lost queen so she told them to clean up there rubbish and leave and that's what they did.

Hamanatua stream walk

On Tuesday we went on a walk to the end of Hamanatua stream so we set off,  about 5 minutes in the walk we were at the bridge I was doing fine when we crossed the road we went up the road and set on our walk we made to the farm.  Oska started to lean on a gate and "ZAP" he got a shock in his arm and Stormer didn't believe him so he held the gate and then "ZAP" he got shocked too     and then Max held the gate and "ZAP" Oska and Stormur started to laugh at him "haha".

Anyway we started the walk it was very muddy and then I saw people at the front of the line jumping across a small stream.  I was waiting and watching everyone jump Lola gave her bag to Rio and lola made the jump then Rio through Lolas bag and it landed in the water

Jean Batten day

I was making careful folds on my paper plane called a moth it was the last fold it was perfect everyone in my team finished their planes so we all went to test our planes accuracy through a hoop so we lined up.  Everyone in my group missed the hoop by a mile.  So we moved on to "MAYDAY MAYDAY" we all lined up there was a bullseye taped on the door, but we all failed again.

The next course was whos paper plane could fly furthest it was my turn to throw but all my plane did was loop de loops and didn't get a metre far so I lost and Cory won after all the teams did the courses only one person made it through the hoop he was Stormur.

We then went onto the next activity making a buzz plane with a toothbrush, small battery, thumb tack and two small led lights , we grabbed the toothbrush and cut the front off,  then you get the thumb tack and stick it on the front of the tooth brush then grab your battery and stick the red wire to the thumb tack then put the battery on top of the red wire and stick the black wire up.

Then it should start vibrating , once it does put it onto a hard surface and it will most likely do donuts on the floor.

Cross country

"On your marks, get set go BANG!" I sprinted, my legs moving faster than light "swoosh".  People got a glimpse of me, before I sprinted past them, "arghh". I felt a sharp pain in my chest, it hurt badly, causing me to rapidly slow. Before I knew it, people started passing me. At this point, I was now 10th placing. So again once again, I started jogging. I was at the sand dunes running up the hill and then down.  I was running down the dip, my chest still in pain but I persevered and kept going.

Now in my second lap, the crowds had began to cheer and shout as I jogged passed. I was super puffed, it was getting harder and harder to breath, sweat was dripping down my face, and my legs were on fire, and felt like they melting right to the bone. I was exhausted, gasping for breath, yet I kept on pushing.

I came back to the dip, I nearly fell down the hill while I was running.  You know what was even worse? I had pins and needles too.  I was set to tie 8th with Cash, I wasn't having any of this! so I sped up, I was roughly a metre in front of him, the crowd were shouting "go Reef" but then I looked behind me and I saw Cash sprinting too, so I ran for 8th place and that was my final placing.

snowboarding

 Snowboarding

Icy fingers gripped my arms, it was Bodhi we were on a snowboarding trip in taupo.  This was my first time snowboarding, I was getting my binding on I got both of them on.  I didn't know how to control it I went flying down the mountain.

I tried to stop but I went flying face first into the snow.  I was on the chair lift and I was having a race with Bodhi and Ziggy I won obviously.  I started to get the hang of it I was really good I started to get the jumps nailed.  But then I face planted and Ziggy ran into my leg and he got smashed.

1 hour later Bodhi was freezing he had to stop we all went inside the cafe and ate our lollies and had a hot chocolate.  Me and Ziggy wanted to go to the top of the mountain but the conditions were so bad the top was closed so we stayed for another 3 hours.

we had 3 more runs down the mountain Ziggy was to cold for another 3 runs so bodhi came up with no gloves and no helmet after the 3 run I was extremely numb it hurt to take the gear off it was so cold it was hot.

Counting kakahi

Hannah Rainforth is a scientist she is interested in kakahi also known as black water mussels.  She is from Whanganui river in NZ.  Kakahi are one of the most threatened groups of animals worldwide.  You might wonder why she wanted to study kakahi well she started researching and found out that they have nearly disappeared in the Whanganui river.

So she wanted to find more kakahi in NZ also find the remaining kakahi in the river.  If there were very few or none juveniles the kakahi will end up extinct.  The female kakahi releases tiny larvae into the ocean the larvae have to latch onto a fish or it will die.  Kakahi can live for fifty years, you can see how old they are by counting the growth rings on its shell.

She caught 185 kakahi when Hannah moved up the river that's the most she has ever caught in her years of searching.  Caring for our waterways will help kakahi and other fresh water animals can thrive.
